Project
R&D: Strategic R&D Reorganization of Pre-Clinical Development Functions to a More Decentralized Operating Model
Situation
- A leading global life sciences company requested support to change its R&D organizational structure
- More specifically, the focus was on pre-clinical development functions and tasks: overall size of the function relative to KPIs, degree of outsourcing, and opportunities to variabilization of spend, footprint and organizational structures
Solution
- Genioo helped taking key decisions by conducting primary research with prominent industry experts and then summarized and synthesized findings
- Defined survey plan and questionnaire
- Interviewed internal and external SMEs with pre-clinical development experience
- Complemented information with selected secondary research and publicly available best practice information
Impact
- Key findings were then reviewed in working session with R&D leadership team
- Results suggested to outsource to a greater level and a decentralized operating model
- Based on the results, clearly outlined recommendations for actions to be taken:
- Greater % of outsourced services; supported client to define activities, catalogue of deliverables, and run RFP to evaluate outsourcing options
- Proposed a more decentralized, agile organizational structure
